The Federal Government is providing $3.5 billion for energy bill relief for Australian households and eligible small businesses. It’s been designed to help ease cost of living pressures.
All households will receive $300 and eligible small businesses will get $325 as a rebate on their electricity bill. This will be delivered in quarterly instalments during 2024/25 through retailers like us.
Are you eligible, and how do you claim it?
Households
The good news is every Australian household is eligible to receive the quarterly rebates. If you’re a Momentum customer, we’ll start automatically applying this to your electricity bills and you won’t have to do anything.
And if you’d like to check if you’re eligible for any other concessions or rebates, we have a page dedicated to that.
Households in embedded networks
If you live in an embedded network (such as an apartment block or caravan park) you’ll be eligible for bill relief. You will have to submit an application, so check your state or territory’s website to see where to apply.
Small businesses
To be eligible, you need to meet your state’s definition of an electricity “small customer”. If you’re below your state’s threshold of annual electricity consumption, you won’t have to take any action to receive the rebates automatically. See below for small business thresholds.
Small businesses in embedded networks
If you’re in an embedded network (such as a shopping centre), to be eligible you have to meet your state’s definition of an electricity “small customer”. If you’re below your state’s threshold of annual electricity consumption in the table, you will have to apply to your state or territory government.
