Zena - Goodbye Gas electrification clientZena's Electrification Case Study with Goodbye Gas

How Zena fought for a better climate (with a little help)

Momentum customers are using Goodbye Gas to – well, to say goodbye to gas – for lots of reasons. Saving the planet is a big one.

Zena is in her 60s and works as a professional environmental practitioner (literally a warrior princess – bet she’s never heard that one before), so she knows more than most about switching to electricity to help Australia hit net zero emissions by 2050.

Even though she’s already an environmental expert, Zena felt bamboozled by options for going electric . That is, until she checked her email.

When the email from Momentum arrived with the offer of working with Goodbye Gas, I was straight onto it. It seemed to address all my issues... I also rather liked the idea of an energy retailer helping with this [converting people to electricity].

No house is too old for a facelift

Zena lives in a single-story, Victorian terrace house in Melbourne’s inner suburbs that had been running on gas since ancient times (before the iPhone).

“The gas appliances I installed when I renovated [about 25 years ago] were coming to the end of their life... and had been thinking for a while that I needed to get off gas, ” she said.

Zena wanted to change her hot water from gas to a heat pump storage system, and the gas-fired hydronic heating system to electric oil-filled panels.

“Goodbye Gas coordinated it all – sourcing the appliances, and the trades , and rebates. It was a life saver! The service was exemplary, and it cut through the confusion,” she said.

No gas, no dramas.

Zena was happy with the initial video consultation , and things went well on the installation day.

“Everyone arrived on time. The Goodbye Gas supervisor was available throughout. And the place was left clean,” she said.

“They are lovely people who clearly want to help, not just sell a service or product.”

Saving more than a few bucks

You don’t need the wisdom of Athena (sorry, can’t help the Ancient Greek references) to know getting off gas makes sense. Zena is looking forward to reaping the benefits.

“The electric heating was slightly more expensive, but I hope to save on energy costs. The rebate for the hot water system helped,” she said.

Her final call to arms? “Do it! One by one we can make a difference.”

Not all heroes wear capes

Like Zena, you can make a difference. And if you’re a Momentum gas customer based in Victoria, you can get up to $242 (incl GST) to cover your gas abolishment fee credited to your final gas bill when you purchase a product from Goodbye Gas and remove your gas meter.
